“If you want to be successful in leadership you must build your life around integrity, humility and generosity,” said Rick Warren, the author of The Purpose Driven Life, the fastest-selling book after the Bible. “Leadership is like fruit. The best fruit grows in the shade – it ripens slowly.”

I recently had the opportunity of attending a leadership conference at the Royal Albert Hall with guest speakers including: the former Prime Minister, Tony Blair; Hector Sants, Chief Executive of the Financial Services Authority; Sir Paul Coleridge, a High Court Judge in the Family division; and The Bishop of London, the third most senior bishop in the Church of England.

The diverse line up was brought together by London’s pioneering Holy Trinity Brompton Church, home of the Alpha course, led by Nicky Gumbel.
